OnePlus enjoys a reputation for being a high-end phone at an affordable price.
Since launching the original OnePlus One smartphone in 2014, the team behind the device has promised the freedom of an Android phone with the security and ease of use of an iPhone. The company slogan “Never Settle” is aimed directly at consumers wanting a great phone for less cash.
This year, and maybe as soon as this month, OnePlus is expected to unveil and launch the OnePlus 6 smartphone.

Not since the original OnePlus One has the company announced and launched a phone in April. Even then, buyers needed to receive an invite from the company to purchase. The most common release date for OnePlus models is sometime in June.

April looks unlikely, with some leaks suggesting May 5 would be the earliest opportunity. But don’t be surprised if you are left waiting until June for an official announcement.
OnePlus will be looking to roll out the 6 as soon as possible, however, since the previous 5T model is now out of stock on the U.S. and U.K. websites.
OnePlus has already teased two major features for the 6: a waterproof design and a faster processor.
On April 3, the company tweeted a video along with the caption “6et ready!” It included a few spiraling colours and the words “the speed you need,” along with the number six. OnePlus has since been tweeting teasers referencing the alert slider and touchscreen gestures.
It will launch with the Snapdragon 845 chipset, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, according to OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau (Liu Zuohu).
It looks as though waterproofing has also been confirmed by the company for the OnePlus 6. On Tuesday (April 17), it tweeted a video of water drops hitting the ground along with the caption “Don’t you just hate it when you have to stop using your phone when it rains? So do we”.
And the big fad of modern smartphones, the notch, will also appear on the OnePlus 6. In an image given exclusively to The Verge, the OnePlus 6 can be seen with a notch at the top centre of the device, much like on the iPhone X.
Last but not least, the headphone jack is staying put.
Considering OnePlus is a company that prides itself on making more affordable smartphones, it would be a strange move for it to increase the price too much.
Pricing rumours vary from around $520 up to $749. If the latter is true, it puts the OnePlus 6 in direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and iPhone 8. It would also be a huge markup from the OnePlus 5T, which started at $499.
A leaked—but also questionable—specifications sheet suggests a 3450mAh battery, along with an AMOLED screen.
The cameras appear to be getting a spec bump with 20MP and 16MP rear-facing cameras, both with an f/1.7 aperture. The front-facing camera will have a 20MP, f/1.8 snapper.
The spec sheet also suggests a second, cheaper model that will have 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM.
